Kitty

About the film

In a Pennsylvania town, a reserved teenager attends a forced double date with her best friend, amid the pressures of senior year.

“Set in a small Pennsylvania town, it is Kitty's senior year of high school. While she plans to attend community college just 30 minutes away, her gregarious best friend Ramona prepares to leave for college in California. After receiving their college decisions, the two spend an afternoon at Nockamixon Lake on a secluded shoreline. Before they leave, Ramona spontaneously submerges herself into the cold water while Kitty hesitates and watches her from the shore. Later, at Ramona’s house, she reveals to Kitty that she will break up with her boyfriend, Lucas, when she leaves for California, emphasizing that she's not sad because she's grateful for the experience of a first love. Feeling insecure about her inexperience, Kitty agrees to hang out with Ramona, Lucas, and his friend Finn in the parking lot of a convenience store, drinking cheap beer. During an awkward game of truth or drink, Finn bluntly asks Kitty if she’s a virgin, insinuating that it’s a good thing if she is. This question deeply unsettles Kitty, prompting her to leave and seek solitude away from the group. The film concludes back at the lake, where Kitty submerges herself in the water, mirroring Ramona’s earlier leap. This act symbolizes her desire for growth and a deeper understanding of love, both for herself and her evolving relationship with Ramona as they transition into adulthood.”
